Not only have technology advanced within law enforcement, it has gradually advanced within today’s society. The advancement of technology has both increased and decreased effective communication. Technology allows a faster means to converse with other’s. But it also takes away from the value and meaning behind tone. Reading message doesn’t gain the same effect as speaking verbally. Last week we discussed the where we wanted to work. The agency I brought up was the Department of Homeland Security. Before landing the position I want, I would like to become an intern while I’m working on my Master’s degree after I graduate from Strayer. I’ll be working on a degree in Digital Forensic and Cyber Security. Homeland Security’s mission is to reduce America’s vulnerability to terrorism, prevent terrorism, and minimize the damage that occurs as well as set recovery strategies. Since the advancement of technology is steadily increasing it has become a greater threat than people want to believe. So much information is stored in databases that can be accessed by individuals known as hackers. Terrorist have the same resources that we have and because of the growth of technology they are learning a lot more and getting hold of information that is deemed confidential. This is where cyber security steps in. Cyber security is here to reduce hacker gaining such confidential information and when information is obtained from databases cyber security has the means and resources to locate such individuals.
